“I am a 37 year old husband and father of two boys. I had been overweight since childhood. About eight years ago, my doctor told me I was a prime candidate for an early heart attack unless I made some significant lifestyle changes. That warning was enough to scare me into taking action. I got my butt to the gym and started making better choices with my diet and nutrition. I was able to lose some weight and put on some muscle with a low-carb / low-fat / high-protein diet. However, the plateaus were brutal and seemingly impossible to break.

I was introduced to the concept of a ketogenic diet by Tara McLoughlin. I was skeptical at first, as the idea of a high-fat diet flew in the face of everything I had ever been taught about weight loss. However, I was determined to give it a shot since I had hit a wall with my current approach.

The first few days definitely took me out of my comfort zone. My egg-white omelet was replaced with eggs, butter, and bacon. Instead of a chicken chef salad for lunch, I’d have some sliced ribeye and avocado. The information and ideas I found on Life Simply Reimagined helped me know what to expect, and how to make the transition as comfortable as possible. In fact, the dreaded “keto flu” I had heard so much about really wasn’t a big deal with the arsenal of supplements and electrolytes she recommended!

Of course, there are still moments when my discipline is tested. However, those temptations are usually easy to resist since I am rarely hungry. I never find myself watching the clock waiting for my next meal. In fact, I often find myself going 8-12 hours between meals without even realizing how long it’s been since I’ve eaten!

I would recommend ketogenic eating to anyone! Life Simply Reimagined is an amazing resource for information, ideas, and motivation. Thanks, Tara!”
